The bar & the table

Your bar, your way.
Food, too.

Three ways to run the bar

  • Hosted bar (aka Open bar). One tab, your limit, open bar for your guests. Most hosts budget about $11 a drink, one drink per guest per hour.
  • No-host bar.Guests grab their own drinks and pay as they go. Our staff keeps a friendly eye on the alcohol minimum.
  • Add a wine tasting.Guided pours of five wines for your group, $25 a person, right in the middle of your event.

We pour what we make and love: a dozen ENSO wines and a dozen more we import, local drafts and cider, Portland Sangria, and a deep zero-proof list. No outside alcohol, and no liquor (we're a winery, after all). Bringing your own NA drinks is welcome.

Food, two ways

  • Keep it simple with our boards.Locally-made salami, cheese and bread on black-walnut boards, $7 a person. Zero planning required.
  • Or bring in any caterer you love.Outside food is welcome, from taco carts to full service. A few favorites who know the space well:

How the bar runs

One tab, your limit, open bar for your guests.

What you’re covering

When your limit runs out the bar switches to no-host and guests pay their own from there.

Hours the bar is open

Usually shorter than your block
hours of service

Setup, photos, toasts, and teardown all eat into your block. Trim this and the bar estimate drops with it.

How your crowd drinks

Drinks per guest, per hour

Daytime showers and celebrations of life run easygoing. Weddings and holiday parties run thirsty.

Add to it

Bringing a caterer? Outside food is welcome, from taco carts to full service, and we don't charge a fee for it.

Bar figures use an average drink price of $11 — some pours run more, some less.
Likely $6,475 – $8,450

This is an estimate, not a proposal. The bar is the line that moves. It's billed on what your guests actually drink, and $11 a drink is our working average across ENSO wines, imports, local drafts and cider, Portland Sangria, and the zero-proof list. Tell us your plan and we'll send a real proposal with availability.

Minimums. The Whole Place carries a $1,000 alcohol minimum, the Barrel Room $250. For private tastings of ten or more, rental fees and alcohol minimums are waived.

Holding the date. Your full rental fee locks it in. It's non-refundable, but transferable if life moves your plans. The bar tab plus gratuity is settled at the end of the night. A $100 cleaning fee applies only if things get truly festive.

Good questions

Asked & answered.

Can we decorate?+

Please do! Balloons, banners, flowers and candles are all welcome. The space is honestly most of the decor already, so a little goes a long way. We just ask: nothing taped or nailed to the barrels, and no glitter (it outlives us all).

What about parking and getting here?+

We're at 1416 SE Stark Street, ten minutes from downtown. Street parking is available all around us: right out front, across the street, and in the neighborhood to the northeast with no time limits. Just mind the signs.

Can kids come?+

Minors are welcome in our Tasting Lounge until 6 pm every day. For private events, the OLCC allows us to have minors from open until close, so your celebration can be all-ages from first pour to last dance.

How late can the party go?+

Music until 11 pm, per our Buckman neighborhood agreement, and alcohol service stops at 11 too. Most evening rentals run 2 to 10 pm, which leaves room for a graceful last dance.

What if we need extra tables, linens or rentals?+

For most events, our guests don't need rentals; we try to have everything you need on hand. If you do want extras, you can arrange tables, chairs, linens and more through The Party Place, with delivery just before your event.

How do deposits and payment work?+

The full rental fee holds your date. It's non-refundable, but it is transferable if life moves your plans. The bar tab plus 20% gratuity is settled at the end of the event. Early load-ins are billed at the hourly rate, and a $100 cleaning fee applies only if things get truly festive.
